This project explored nonprofit visual systems through a redesign of Humane Society Silicon Valley’s identity system. The goal was to reflect its compassionate mission and foster a stronger, lasting connection with the local community.
Problem
The existing visual system lacked warmth and a distinct personality. It relied heavily on generic imagery and muted tones that failed to fully capture the organization’s compassionate values or its unique approach to animal welfare. The visual language felt outdated and failed to stand out in the competitive landscape of nonprofit organizations.
Approach
To address this, I created a new identity built around vibrant illustrations, warm and friendly colors, and playful typography. The system emphasizes emotional warmth, accessibility, and a sense of community. By combining hand-drawn elements with clean layouts, the design invites engagement and reflects the joyful, safe environment that HSSV strives to provide for every animal.
